tool kit
I'm looking to set up a touring tool kit full of all the stuff for routine maintenance. Currently I have no toolkit that I carry. What would you recommend?

Re: tool kit
I went round the bike and checked which sockets were needed and put them in a small canvas zipbag, I had to buy an extra 24mm for the axle, all 3/8th and a mini 3/8 ratchet . A pair of parallel plyers, screwdriver with reversible head, cable ties a couple of spark plugs and the kit spark plug tool, spare clutch cable and a few fuses and some tape. That's what I carry daily and all fits easily in the bike. I've only done 1-2 weeks touring so the kit seemed fit for that purpose too. I suspect you could probably buy a purpose made mini kit like that. I think I remember seeing one from Oxford. Come to think of it bacho have a mini socket and ratchet think it's a 1/4 set that I always fancied and it comes in a nice little unit. Bahco sl25.

Re: tool kit
Surely the Honda tool kit would be a good place to start. They come up on Ebay every so often.
I would add a puncture kit to that, and perhaps a mini bottle of fuel.

Re: tool kit
are the Honda toolkits standard or are they specific to different models?

Re: tool kit
They're model specific I believe.
There's a new one on ebay at the moment.

Re: tool kit
Hi,
this has come up on here before so have a look at the older threads. Imo the Honda kit is the "right" thing to have but you'll need better for the cold damp night when the bike has a moment.
Realistically I'd say useful items would be tools to do specific jobs : change a clutch cable, replace a lever, get the fuel tank off, get the rear plastics off, get the sidepanels off, change a bulb. I doubt you'd be having the caliper(s) off or removing a wheel at roadside. Nah, that's what breakdown is for. I doubt you'd be adjusting the chain on a weeks tour either.
Add a few cableties, a hat, latex gloves, mini maglite torch, tyre pressure guage, swiss army knife/multitool, highviz, sidestand puck, spare clutch cable, some tissues and spare earplugs and thats it. 200mil of petrol and the same of oil might be worth it but in the uk.

Re: tool kit
Slightly off topic, but I've always fancied the look of the Venhill econokit...

Re: tool kit
According to the part number the toolkits never changed. I do like the look of that Venhill kit.

Re: tool kit
Ha ha! I get annoyed when ebay alerts me to NOS CB500 parts only to find that they're for the bloody aircooled twins & fours! Boils my piss, in fact.
