My cb 500s stopped on me today, it was like it was running out of fuel... then it wouldnt  rev over 1k ,then it cut out then  all electrics went dead...after few minutes electric came back bike started but wouldnt rev over 1k  so i am thinking(1)one of coils failing(2)faulty regulator rectifier(3) dirt in fuel tap filter... any suggestions?

If it was a it it would only be firing on one cylinder, this can be checked by spraying water on the downpipes when it is running. One one tha water will steam away and the other will stay wet (if it is a coil) It will also sound lumpy and if you rev it it will most likely die (at least mine did) The faulty coil will not cause all the electrics to cut out though.

I'm free next weekend if you want a hand with it, can't really think of any suggestions at the moment though.

My guess would be some kind of electrical fault, like a bad ground.
