    Hello everybody.

I'm a 40 year old dude from Poland.
My experience with riding motorcycles is limited to couple 50cc cold-war era mopeds back in my childhood. In summer 2019, as Airsoft games (my other hobby) were mostly cancelled by Covid restrictions, I decided to find myself something I would get into. As our law lets me ride 125cc bike with my car license, I thought "why not?" and bought a chinese rip-off of Suzuki GS125 from the 90's.

    This bike looked like this:

But as I'm a tinkering type and deeply in love in Cafe Racer style, after the winter it looks like this:

Yes. It's the same bike... or, let's say, mostly. At least 1/3 of the frame, wheels and engine block Very Happy

It is great fun to ride it, but longer tours show it's lack of power. So I decided to take motorcycle license course and buy myself a bigger bike.

    Ta-Dam!!!

'94 model, a bit tired but without any serious damage or signs of repairs. I like it, and wife loves it Very Happy

I hope I can use knowledge from this forums to put this bike to good use for years to come.

    Cheers!

Well, at first I'll focus on simple service to make it fully road-worthy. The overall condition isn't bad, but I guess I will find more issues as I dig into it. My plan is to do proper maintenance (fluids, filters, valves, brakes, chain), get rid of issues I see (kinked headlamp bracket, loose handlebar weights, rattling side covers etc) and as I hope I will pass my driving test soon - just enjoy the ride.

That looks really nice.  There aren't many CB500 from 1994 that are that well preserved! Best of luck with the test.

    Thank you Smile

After some thinking I decided I will try to preserve/restore it as vanilla as I can. Couple years form now it may be a good youngtimer material.

Excellent news! You'll have to take some action shots of the CB500 when you've taken it for a ride.

Yeah, but just my luck... As soon as I've collected my new license, the weather decided I will not be able to ride... 3 degrees Celsius and a drizzle. Every. Frickin. Afternoon. for the last week. The fact it's getting dark just as I come home from work isn't helping also.

I don't know about Poland but here in the UK we sometimes get a week or two of warmer weather which can be conducive to bike riding in the winter - you just need to be ready to take advantage of it when it comes!

I agree that riding in 3 degree drizzle isn't fun.

Week or two? Wow. We can have more like day or two... but it happens.
3 degree riding is... doable, the drizzle was the problem. But I'm optimistic. I don't "winterize" my bikes, so if opportunity arises, I will take it Smile

I'm of the same mind, if I get the opportunity to go out for a play...
Hopefully tomorrow will be one of those.
