Clocked up 150,000 miles today.
I've certainly had my money's worth since buying it new in 2003! Without wishing to jinx it, virtually no problems whatsoever. Engine-wise, all I've done is regular oil/filter changes, a few sets of plugs and air filters, re-shimmed the valves after 122,000 and replaced the opening throttle cable. Clutch, cam-chain and tensioner all original.
The regulator/rectifier unit failed after 136k and I'm on my 3rd battery now. I hardly ever use the side-stand but the centre-stand has needed attention a few times. The pivot pin became well-worn so I made new one out of solid bar to replace the original tube. Fortunately the tube gets crushed in rather than wearing right through. Subsequently the holes in the stand became very worn so I made and fitted stepped bushes to spread the load over a wider area. I also re-made one end of the new pin as it had worn a bit. The feet of the stand also wore right through so I had to weld new pads onto it. Still on the original exhaust although I have had to weld plates on the end of the can a few times and the flanges that hold the pipes to the head became very rusty and thin so I cut them off and made some replacements out of thicker steel. I had to cut them in half, put them round the pipes and weld the halves back together. A few other bits and pieces have had to be replaced but very little really.
I'll probably get my spare bike out tomorrow to do at least 7 miles. It's currently on 49993!
