1998 CB500
So, and this officially my first bike.
After some years I decide to take the bike drivers license, after this is the time to choose the bike. Low price, easy maintenance, good drivability to a newbie and great reliability was the requisites.
After some search I found a 98 December with 40.000km, with a few cosmetic issues and a little looseness in steering gear.

Sorry for my bad English

Next mods will be:
- R&G Crash Protectors
- Repaint the Steering Yoke top
- Bought a used center stand, but don't came with the pivot (waiting for it from Honda dealer)
- Fuel Stainless steel round exhaust
And it's ready for daily use and give some rest to my Civic VTi

Re: 1998 CB500
This week the CB500 came my daily driver, today I tried to pull some rpm in 4th gear, and it's when I felt the clutch sliding... is it normal to a 41.000km bike?

The first visit to the workshop..
Due to the steering box gap, and the clutch sliding I decide to make the 1st maintenance.
I will pickup it tomorrow, but by phone the mechanic made me a resume of what he did.
- Steering box: has been refined and tightened
- Clutch: The lever was very tight
- All the filters and fluids was changed.. The brake fluids looks like water probably are the fluids that the bike came from the factory..
- Today was day to go dyno to carbs sync and tune.
As the maintenance should be much cheaper, the next mod is a scorpion exhaust

Sounds like the previous owner hadn't done much servicing... the brakes should be better with new fluid.
The CB500 clutch *should* be light, not heavy, so there was definatly a problem there.
Good luck with the "new" bike!

How can you buy a used bike and not change motor oil?
That's first thing you should do!
And water coolant, brake oil, all filters..
That's ABCs man!
Personaly, I don't mind a lot for cosmetics of the bike, but I'm meticulous about mechanics on it..
CB500 does look nice in black!
