Re: help new owner
I've no idea what you are asking. You drain the oil at the sump plug and pour fresh in the port on the side of the sump. You don't put oil in the generator.

Re: help new owner
i just did this too..
Put the crankcase back on(which houses the stator(generator)). Make sure you've used a new gasket and torqued all the bolts 12Nm (very tight - but jeezo don't snap'em)
now, ensure you've got a sump plug in, with new washer, and an oil filter on (rub oil on the filter rubber if it's new)
Ok, now pour oil in the wee hole that has a black cap on the clutch side.
I've used 10/40 semi synthetic halfords motorcycle oil. It'll take about 3.5 litres, but check the level on the wee black cap by putting it in, taking it out...you want it half to 3/4 the way up the wee chequered tab at the end.
Don't use car oil, as the oil is for the clutch too.
Make sure you're filling and measuring the bike when it's balanced. I used centre stand.
Hope this helps

This is not necessarily correct. Don't forget that the original Mini had the gearbox in the sump and didn't use bike oil. Bike oil would seem to be a bit of a rip-off. See thread in the workshop guides and tutorials sectionWeeTony wrote:Don't use car oil, as the oil is for the clutch too.
Car oil vs. motorcycle oil

Most car oils now have a Teflon type additive which is harmful to clutches.
