NOW SOLD
My 2002 bike with 48,000 cared-for miles on the clock.
MOT until April 2014; road tax until end of October 2013.
- Full service, including carb balance.
- Brand new rear tyre (less than 10 miles!).
- Brand new rear shocks.
- Fork seals (and new fork oil) done for MOT.
- Rear disc and pads replaced for MOT (there's still some slight run-out though).
- Front tyre, front brake pads, chain and sprockets all OK.
- Scottoiler fitted.
- Heated grips fitted.
It's fitted with a K&N panel filter (cleaned and oiled), sports exhaust (it's a Pipewerx SL which is road legal but quite loud, sounds great!) and the carbs have been rejetted to suit this set-up, with the exhaust baffle removed. It runs very well indeed, either with or without the baffle, and has loads of grunt right through the rev range!
The original silencer and carburettor jets can be supplied with the bike on request; it takes about an hour or so to put it back to standard if you wish to do so.
Fuel economy is excellent: when ridden enthusiastically, I never see less than 55mpg; when ridden more sedately, I have seen 69mpg! Check out my Fuelly mpg page here:
Fuelly - My CB500
I've used this bike nearly every day for the last 18 months, and apart from needing the radiator and cooling fan switch replacing right at the beginning of my ownership, it has never let me down.
It starts first time every time, goes and stops great, handles brilliantly with the Bridgestone BT45 tyres, and never fails to put a smile on my face when out for a ride! I will be very sad to see it go, but my wife tells me I can only have one motorbike
The paintwork etc is pretty tidy for its age, and the bike looks really nice and shiny. Please remember that although it's been very well looked after, it is 11 years old and has a few scars here and there to tell the tale. It is straight, I have checked: the rear wheel alignment marks on the swingarm are spot on when the front and rear wheels are perfectly aligned (when checked using the straight edge method).
Genuine reason for sale: I've upsized to a Triumph Trophy, which is better suited to my daily commute of 70 miles.
Reduced to £1200 or very near offer for forum members. A bit more than the average CB500, but it's a great bike.
PM me if interested, thanks.
Alex.
