hi, a few months ago i 've noticed a strange sound from the clutch when the bike is at neuteral, so i have opened the clutch cover and i saw the gear between the clutch missing some teeth like the photo below. Is that normal or it has broke?

That is normal, I think it's part of the ignition timing mechanism.

If a chunk of metal that big had detached and started wandering around your engine while in use you'd have a lot more to worry about than the CB500 clutch rattle! affraid

In the Haynes manual pages 2.26, 2.27, 2.29 and 2.30, the 'cog' you notice missing some teeth is shown just like that. I think Basil is on to something Smile

I read the manual and on the pictures shows that this gear normaly is missing theeth, so this is not a problem. A friend of mine has the same bike and on the netural it dosent rattle.. Do you have any suggestions about my problem? Or anyone has come with the same problem?

Nice link. This guy has got it right on why to ride a bike - and he's ended up with a CB...

Hmm, you might well be chasing shadows worrying over the clutch rattle, they all do that sir.

I've had 4 cb500's a VF and a cbr6, plus some other Hondas fleetingly and these to a greater or lesser extent have a clutch rattle. If it goes away when the clutch is pulled in, fine, unless  you are worried and then you can have fun taking the thing to bits as in the link.

If the rattle stays after the clutch is in its prob camchain tensioner, rev the bike a few times to warm it up and it'll prob go away as the tensioner settles down, again, its a Honda and they all do that to a degree.
If you are still worried, try and have a listen to other cb500's or go to a mechanics, they'll listen for free.

Bag of spanners noise, you'll not want to ride and start with a look at the camchain tensioner.
