You represent the EXACT market this awesome bike was built for. So awesome, it has its own race series and dedicated following.
A proper motorbike (as described by a customer who's in his 80's and owns an Aerial Square 4 and a BSA M20. His daily rider is a CB500 - this from a man who's seen and done it all!).

its a good bike for the money. reliable, easy to ride, around town and on a track day. good riding position, not too racey but not too sit-up. and with race cans on sounds absolutely fantastic.
Yeah - I'm liking.
But like teh seeds said - the range has always been a question mark over the vtr. Apparently they made a bigger tank for it on the later models.

Re: Other bikes ?????
tank range depends on riding style, mine gets thrashed and topped up. 2001 they put a larger fuel tank on, so if you get an earlier model just swap tanks.badseeds wrote:Tricky. wrote:its a good bike for the money. reliable, easy to ride, around town and on a track day. good riding position, not too racey but not too sit-up. and with race cans on sounds absolutely fantastic.
What about the tank range? I fancy one of these, but I can't be doing with something that needs gas before 160 miles at least.

I have a Yamaha XJ900 Diversion, which is a very underrated bike. I mainly use it for long runs and the odd bit of touring as it's set up with Givi luggage.

I've only got one other motorcycle at the moment, a 1953 BSA Bantam D1.
I've owned it since 1978. One owner before me, the archetypal "little old lady". This winter I'd dearly like to try and find the time to address it's cosmetic issues.

Great! I wouldn't make it look too nice or you'll be afraid of taking it out of the shed ;)

I know what you mean, but it barely gets ridden anyway and it has begun to upset me that it looks so shabby. Bodged repairs to the rear mudguard, done when it fell off on the way to work one day in 1987 still not properly addressed, the attempts at a re spray carried out in a fit of youthful enthusiasm when I was 15, the wrong forks fitted because I bent the originals falling off it, all need putting right. All I does now is sit in the garage, I'd like to be happy at it's appearance and be able to use it periodically without worrying about it deteriorating further.
