Can I suggest this for a thread? Damn useful stuff you have in your garage, that isn't a usual tool, for working on bikes, fixing bikes and so on.

I'll open with these :-

LED USB light

Combined with a 3m USB extension lead and a mainsUSB phone charger it is really useful for seeing into the more hidden parts of the bike. Or you can wrap it around something to cast light where you need it.

This stuff is so useful. Hangs number plates primarily but it's great for just about anything fairly lightweight. I've even used it to stick the PIR sensors for our house alarm to the walls rather than drill.

May I add these to the suggestion pool:

3 foot scaffy bar (for those hard to remove bolts)
2ft long x 18" high x 16" wide box made from 18mm ply (preferably with castors) as a bike stand.
couple metres of decent cable for fault finding, not standard as I've wired probes onto one end and clamps onto the other (for batt).
a half decent camera (memories fade, at least mine does)
Fairy Liquid (c'mon, who hasn't used this???)

That's it for now, if I use anything else other than standard I'll be sure to let you know!

Two things, one obvious and one less so:

1. Electricity/light - my garage didn't have it; I added it, and it is much better.

Even if you don't have mains these days you can do good things with solar panels and batteries such that (at least) you have light, if you are prepared to spend a little bit.

2. A radio or other music/entertainment source (Ipod, speakers etc) helps me to stop thinking too much about what I am doing and just get on with doing it. I know that sounds a little odd, but quite often I end up doing nothing and thinking too much.

If you search for 12v led lights or led caravan awning lights, you can get some fairly bright lights that will happily run off a spare bike / car battery for several hours. A car battery that won't turn a car over will still charge up and run some lights pretty well.

For a radio, I have an old computer connected to the internet via homeplugs that I stream radio through. It's also damn useful for ordering parts and looking up parts diagrams, how-to videos etc without having to leave the garage.

I've got one of those fans for blowing up kids bouncy castles, so when I'm doing anything with the engine running or paint and it's cold I only open the door about 3 inches and turn this on and it blows the fumes out.

I found that a magnetic screwdriver helps to get ya spark plugs out. Also a bottle opener is handy.

That is good value for money ! Dremel prices are a bit ridiculous, and the tooling prices even more so. Is Ferm tooling available separately ?

I am a bit more of a comfort freak. (Me poor knees)
I used a bit of foam. I put it in a decent rubble bag and taped it up.
Waterproof too.

Or I wear knee pads quite a lot if I am doing various crawling about jobs.
