eBay Tail Tidy
Hi,
Has anyone bought one of these? Can't paste links while on my phone but will do so when I can.
The seller is adamant that it isn't a universal kit - but that's exactly what it looks like - I've asked for a picture of just the bracket but they haven't sent one and there is a bit of a English/German language barrier.
I know it's possible just to chop up the under tray but I'd prefer a kit if possible.
Dan

The picture looks like a CB500... shame I can't help with the german (or french - their shop appears to be in France).
I'm probably being a cretin (like normal!) but why do you want to fit one of these?

Re: eBay Tail Tidy
lol why not
......I just don't like the overly chunky mass of unpainted dull plastic at the back - but that's the same on all bikes not just the CB

Yeah it's a taste thing innit bruv, etc.
However I could honestly punch my new bike's previous owner in the thorax and mind for what they did to its seat tray. They cut it down by about six inches!! So all that "overly chunky mass of unpainted dull plastic at the back" has been cruelly nay callously attenuated.
Strangely, I actually like the OEM tray and would in fact make it even bigger, and dangle a good few inches lower.
I need to take a photograph of the mud flap me and my mate Mike fastened to the bottom of the front mudguard's Fenda Extenda - it's absolutely awesome. Most people would hate it. I would say at a rough guess it's got a surface area of about sixty four square inches (!!). It makes the front look like some weird old WWII Ural that's just been ridden out of Stalingrad. Such a hardcore grandad anti-bling finish to it. I'm toying with putting a big horrible '80s Castrol GTX sticker on it, just to ensure that the eye is drawn to its undeniable vastness.
I got a second hand seat tray for £15 so that will be replacing the sawn off one in due course. And if I can think of some way to extend that, and add yet more overly chunky mass of unpainted dull plastic, I definitely will.
Cos to my mind, although the bike's engine will rev its knackers off, these are - if we're brutally honest - utility bikes. No way should Honda ever have made that front mudguard so stupidly short. These are bikes for ploughing through winter's shite all day and all night, to ensure that Mrs. Smythe in the accounts department at Uttoxeter has that crucial document by tomorrow morning. It's the shetland pony of the bike world - and when all of those thoroughbreds have come down with mechanical canker from getting too exposed to the elements, the shaggy coated CB500 goes trotting by utterly oblivious to all signs of harsh inclemency.
Embrace your overly chunky mass of unpainted dull plastic, I say.

Re: eBay Tail Tidy
just looked at the tidy on ebay they seem to crack on its exclusively for the cb 500 and not a universal fitting for anything else so you could be in with a chance

Re: eBay Tail Tidy
thanks all - I'm not convinced it is 'exclusively' for the CB500 which would make it just an over priced universal one and that'd be annoying.
now for the awkward moment lol.....

Aye, absolutely. In fact, I've thought this many times.
As ever, a very entertaining missive

Re: eBay Tail Tidy
The front mudguard should have come almost to the floor...
I think they could have made it bigger out of the factory but they wanted it to retain some appeal to people who don't like things like mudguards etc... it didn't work; if you like the CB500 then you probably don't care
