BT 45 tyres
Anybody used a BT 45 140/80 - 17 on the rear of a CB500 and if so, is it worth doing with a standard sized 110/80 17 tyre on the front?
thanks
thanks

No, haven't tried that combination, but *generally* going up one size will be fine (from 130 to 140) it can adjust the handling, not always for the better, but it probably won't be unridable
I bet someone else has tried it - they will be along soon!

Thanks ET. I read that a 140 size rear is used in racing and more modern rubber for the road usually doesnt go down to a 130. Wondered what a 140 crossply would be like.

I have fitted a Pirelli Diablo 140/70-17 on the back of my bike and it seems to hold on very well, wet or dry.
However I think it has one MASSIVE improvement ovet the Metzeler that it replaced. That is , there are no grooves at the centre of the tread so therefore it can't fail an MOT 'cos it is worn to near the bottom of the groove.
