Powder Coating Lower Fork Legs
Hello,
like a lot of CB's, mine's suffering from surface corrosion on the lower fork legs - I'm thinking of taking the forks apart and getting the lower legs powder coated black.
I've had a search through the forum here and nobody seems to have done it before...which makes me think there's probably a good reason for that.
So, does anybody know if powder coating the forks is possible / a good idea / worth the effort of taking my forks apart to do? I've considered having a go at painting them, but I'm not convinced I'd do a brilliant job (or even a semi-halfway-acceptable job).
Any thoughts or experience would be much appreciated,
Thanks

Powder coating can be expensive depending on the powder coater. Some have a minimum charge per order.
If it's only the fork sliders you want to do, a decent alternative ( if you have the forks off the bike ) is to clean them up with Scotchbrite and then varnish with Diamond Hard floor varnish.

Mine were Dremel sanded, polished and just require a coat of oil every now and again to keep them looking nice.

Re: Powder Coating Lower Fork Legs
Hello,
I got the lower fork legs powder coated for 25.00 - I sent them away via courier, which cost me a tenner return.
The powder coating looked quite thick and I've had no problems with it for almost a year now, so I'd say go for powder coating if you can - I've painted my foot-rest hangers silver with brake calliper paint and the finish on them's nowhere near as good or durable...
Cheers

Sounds like a good price. Where did you get them done?OneWheelDrive wrote:Hello,
