I've been wearing Hoods for about four years (the same pair).  I paid for the Knox soft armour in the hips and hard in the knee (although I think they use better armour now, not sure if it's the D3O stuff).

In answer (and bearing in mind mine are a little old), they look fine without the seperate panels some have, they're a little thick, but I've always managed to get on with them through central London in the summer, and they're pretty protective.  I've not had a high speed crash in them, but I've binned it a few more times than I care to remember in them, and they've done the trick nicely.  The internal lining doesn't go all the way to the bottom of the legs, but that's pretty much covered by your boots, so the two holes the last slide put in mine just add character...

I like 'em, but I've never tried any others.

I was thinking of trying a pair, the jeans I have now are red route but they don't look as well made as the hoods so later on in the year I recon I will go for it but they aint cheap about £120 plus armour but then what price do you put on your legs Neutral

I never need jeans:  shorts and t-shirt are much better. ;)

I have looked at the Hood jeans on the web in the past and thought they looked the best ones. I'm glad to hear that they actually are better than nothing if you are unlucky. Might look into them nearer summer .

In this weather (on a longer journey) I have (at least!) two layers under my (baggy) leather trousers and probably some waterproofs over the top. Better than getting cold and wet.

I went down the road in Hackney a couple of  summers ago, dodging a cyclist (who was subsequently fined for cycling without due care and attention). That's where i got the two small holes in the lower jeans. Fortunately my icon boots (which could kick a tractor to death) did the trick nicely. The cops who waited with me for an ambulance (didn't turn up, so me and my snapped collarbone got a taxi) were hugely unimpressed with all those wearing a lid, shorts and sandals...

I've got a pair of Hood jeans and they are excellent. If you order them, they are spot on with their measurements, so measure your waist properly - don't guess! I went for a slightly longer leg so that they don't ride up too far when I'm on the bike.

I've seen Draggin' at some shows, but I've never tried any on or had a good look at them. All I can say is the Hood Jeans seem to be much better quality than others I've seen. The denim seems to be heavier and stronger and the armour sits in the hips and knees really well.

there looks to be a lot more Kevlar with the hoods as well and it is one piece which is a good idea

The new ones come with armour as standard now where previously it was a £30 addon option.
