Have found the screwdriver now, it is double ended, slot and phillips, not the rubbish one I was thinking. So is a complete set, never been used from the look of it. Plastic container is split one side, but easily plastic welded.
So think it is worth £30 plus postage costs affraid Very Happy

Sorry but I do not agree, the Honda toolkit is not bad quality and if CB500 become collectors items in the future, which I am sure good ones will. The original toolkit is a must. I was into Honda C90 for a while and had a mint one for sale, buyer never asked about tool kit, which I had unused. So sold it without. Put toolkit on E-Bay and got over £60 for it. So I think it pays to have original tool kit. Very Happy Sad

Cb 500 s are too good not to ride, so i say be doing wel to find one in perfect condition unless been restored or zero mileage, and there only original once . It be good to have an original tool kit but not essential, and i wouldnt pay  a load of money for one(like honda would ask for it),  there for basic use when your stuck. Tool kits in general are not great maybe honda ones are bit better than other manufactures ive heard others giving out about tool kit quality,  i didnt mean offence about your tool kit( tool kits in general). One i got in cb1 400 wasnt up to much and had an other in an other honda, mainly missing though  in others,  u always get collectors paying over odds for stuff doesnt mean its worth it. As u say it not bad quality but its not great quality either tongue cant see cb going way of rg 500(be great if it did if u stil had one) then again  honda 50 early ones are collectors items, but there not crazy money like rg , like anything when numbers dwindle value goes up with cb engine mite take a while scratch,   put it this way do u think if u look at each tool and its plastic packet that its worth it, ive only to look at the honda pliers...  ( maybe thats reason most tool kits not with bikes) if u got  over 60 for a tool kit good for you:- not good for person buying it maybe i am wrong? (aldi screw drivers , spanners, are better than  honda ones supply ) i keep kit ive put together and save  the cash .sorry just my opinion

The original tool kit is nice to have but I wouldn't worry too much if I didn't have one. There are certainly better quality tools out there & ample space under the seat for an aftermarket kit.
Lings handily lists what's in it.

Heh. I'm carrying the OE toolkit with me. As said, it's only for doing basic stuff, but for that, it's custom made.
Yes, you can pile a stack of tools in the luggage compartment and be better off, but I like my luggage compartment to carry - well, luggage. The toolkit lives happily in its cubbyhole in front of the taillight along with a rag and a luggage-net.

    But that's just me.

    Now, collect a set of generic tools. You'll need 8, 10, 12, 14, 17 and 24 spanners, a spark plug socket, a C-spanner, two screwdrivers, a set of pliers, a 5mm Allen-key and a short extension bar.

It's the same kit for all years.  They changed the make of the pliers at some point but both are listed at the same price & I've no idea which came in the kit when (as if that matters).

I imagine it be same for 93 to 02,    as tool kit is for engine,  and engines the same unit.

I subscribe to the view that, whilst undoubtedly there are better quality tools out there than those supplied in the factory kit, and if you have nothing at home at all your money is better spent elsewhere, as an "emergency" get you out of a hole, there's nothing better.

There's a balance to be struck. Seeing as they're going to (hopefully) sit under the seat and never get used, they need to be good enough to do the job once or twice, but not of a quality and cost commensurate with daily use. They need to be all the right sizes, no point in carrying an 11mm spanner if you've nothing that size on the bike, and they need to take up the minimum amount of space. That's pretty much just what you get with the factory kit.

If my bike was missing it's kit I'd buy the one in the eBay link at the top of the post. Doesn't seem bad value at all.

You should have supplied it without him asking. That's the problem these days people keep the toolkits and owners manuals and eke out a few more pounds from eBay. When you sell a bike these items belong with the bike not with you. I recently bought my bike with these all supplied, couldn't believe it. It's a rarity in this day and age where people only care about what they get from the deal.
