Cam chain tensioner Empty Cam chain tensioner

    Hi,
The cam chain on my 28k CB500 has just started making a whirring noise. I noticed it a while back but it's gotten worse. It's not rattling yet.

Just wondering if it's time the cam chain tensioner was taken out, cleaned and reset?

On my old GPZ305 this was an easy job that required no special tools. How easy is it on the CB500 and does it need any special tooling?  Think I read somewhere that a tool is needed to release the tensioner once back on the bike?

    Cheers,

You can make a key like mine, but others have used a screwdriver to keep the spring wound back, whilst you do up the bolts.
