Clip Ons Empty Clip Ons

Am I right in saying that the CB would take a set of 37mm clip ons?

Does anyone have any recommendations for some half decent ones to use, or should I just head to ebay for some generic ones?

37mm will fit the forks.

@mutley1 tried a set from a VFR400 a while back but had problems with fitting the m/c.

Not sure that'd be a problem with the trees & clocks you're running but it's worth taking into consideration.
Worst case something like a r6 front m/c with it's separate fluid reservoir could be an option.

Ah I hadn't seen that thread cheers.

A lot of the work to be able to use clip ons seems to have been done already (instrument cluster and fabbed top yoke), which is good, but the clip ons themselves are horrible and I am not sure that I could salvage them. I had in my mind something like these, which have the advantage of being adjustable in pitch too:

Hi,
and nope, clip ons aren't a success on the cb5, for that cafe racer individual look go for jota bars. Depending where you drill for the switchgear you can adjust the width of the grips and the things allow you to mess with the riding position endlessly.
If you go the clip on look you'll need rearsets and a longer gear lever, and to adjust the brake light switch too.

I gave in in the end and renthal 789 ultra lows with little bar end mirrors look and work fine.

btw the Tec shock folks do jotas for £55 iirc, much cheaper than Busters etc. Also, Basil Moss has ace bars on his, think he gets on well with them.

Muttley, have you ever seen a set of the TEC Jotas? I was considering them for another bike, and wondered what the quality was like?

Hi,
nope, saw them on the products-available list Tec sent with my new shocks. Looked ok.

Great thank you for the info. Very much helpful. Those Jota Bars look great and are basically what I would have been paying for the fleabay clip on jobs. Are they just pretty much plug and play? I'm at the point of ordering some TEC shocks anyway so it might be an idea to add those bars to the order! Have to wait until payday though...

If you do get them (the Jotas) post your impressions here, please. I've been wondering what they're like since my wrists started to complain after an hour or so on the bike when the hand grips are not quite at the right angle !!

HI,
yep, jota bars are easy to set up. Work out where you want them, make sure the cabling runs freely, drill for the switchgear and alls good.
I've had them on one bike, no issues at all. They got around the stock bars/master cylinder catching on a powerbronze fairing iirc.
