    Arai RX7-V Empty Arai RX7-V

Post by badseeds Thu 24 Nov 2016, 4:30 am

I'd worn my old Arai Axces II pretty much every day for almost three years and I decided to pension it off. I manage to get a good deal on a plain white one from Crossan Motorcycles in Norn Iron that included a genuine black visor and another Pinlock insert.

The fit was perfect right outta the box. All the vents work amazingly well; you can actually feel air being drawn out the back of the lid! There's also a little skirt under the chinbar that does a good job of keeping the wind off your neck.

Issues? The new VAS visor system is very fiddly compared to the old SAL and SAI version; it was possible that swap visors in less than ten seconds, more like 30 seconds now :-(

Also, there's a draft twixt the visor and seal that makes my left eye water at high speed. I've tried adjusting the baseplates, to no avail. I need to take it to an Arai service bod.

I've had the lid for six weeks now and covered around 2500 miles in it; I'm very happy.

I got an Axcess II last September - the ventilation on *that* is so much superior to my old Caberg V2 - the RX7-V must be truly amazing if it is better! (that or my Caberg was awful, hang on...)

On an entirely different note: 4.30 AM is bloody early to be on this forum! I'm guessing that you are on here before work... affraid

I work nights at a desk job with an array of computer screens within the NHS, which is why I'm up at silly o'clock :-)

I can imagine.  I used to be a porter working mainly nights & sometimes in a&e.  It always seemed to get busier when the weather got wet & cold.

Since this post I have bought another two Arai RX7-Vs and a Shoei J-Cruise II, for those rare sunny days.

Wow!  Didn't realise I'd had my 'new' helmet this long - it was new 5 years ago when I posted.... it's *still* better than my old helmet....!

Yes, they are nice helmets. Not sure I'd want to get one quite that nice as knowing my luck/clumsiness I'd probably drop it on the floor!
