CST tyres - any issues? Empty CST tyres - any issues?

Post by fgclark123 Sun 27 May 2018, 5:12 am

Hi, so, I'm changing the rear tyre, the garage is anyway. They've offered a CST tyre which is 10mm smaller than the current tyre.

Is that size difference to be worried about? The mechanic thought not. And is CST a good enough brand do you think?

Thanks a lot

In which way '10mm smaller'? I assume the width.

The 'original' tyre sizes are 110/80-17 front and 130/80-17 rear. Lots of people put bigger sizes on the front and rear, so it is possible that you have a 'bigger than original' tyre on the rear and the CST is the correct size.

CST - cheng shin tyre, I think. Probably fine, but you shouldn't be paying Pirelli prices for them, if you see what I mean.

Anyway, are you talking about these ones : https://www.csttires.com/int/tire/c6501-c6502/ ?

They seem to come in 110/70-17 and 130/70-17, which would probably fit.

£70 was the score on the door... plus 30 labour. not bad.
