Handlebar mod
What kind of after market bars have people fitted?
Has anyone found the need for longer cables and if so how have you solved this?
Cheers & happy riding folks!

Re: Handlebar mod
Hi topher,I fitted a set of Renthal bars to my '96 CB5 a few years ago, don't remember any particular probs.with cables although I did use clutch cable from the"S" as it's a wee bit longer.I was pleased with the result,I find the bars comfy and I like the look.Hope this helps.

Re: Handlebar mod
Hey Pedro cheers for the info, that's really useful to know about the S having longer clutch cable. I was looking at a set of renthal's myself & from previous experience with other bikes know that cable length can be an issue.
Cheers again

Re: Handlebar mod
I have them on mine, they could do with maybe being a touch higher but its better than what i had before. I like the mod, no cable change as they are long enough

Re: Handlebar mod
i got a set of renthals along with a few other spares when i bought my cb500 last month...tried putting them on but didn't like the position...and they're quit a bit wider...
i shuddn't really complain as they were free and being 6ft3 the wider bars aren't hard to reach but i just didn't find them as comfortable as the originals...
my bar end weights from the original didnt fit either so i just kept the bars standard...

Re: Handlebar mod
I have to agree, £30 is a lot for two bits of metal and 4 bolts. my bars are flat, not original I think , and i was bent forwards before when riding but it is better now, I do think another inch or so would be more beneficial tho

Re: Handlebar mod
Old post I know, but info all the same. I'm a short arse and have put handlebar risers and bigger rise handlebars on to bring them back closer to me. This has made the cables tight. I have just bought throttle cables off a Deauville NT650. They look the same ends as a CB500, but are about 4 to 5 inches longer. I haven't fitted them yet, so will see if they suit soon. I have also bought a Clutch cable from a 650 Deauville, but not received this yet.
