CB500 - In Chrome
Just a quick picture of how the CB500s looking in chrome
Chromed the footpeg hangers, chain guard, grab rail, side stand, and engine crash bars. I'll be chroming the radiator grill, forks, petrol cap, the exhaust, the bars for the cargo rack, and I'm debating chrome wing mirrors. It's just a shame that the tatty paintwork on the tank ruins it all.

Re: CB500 - In Chrome
Looks, erm chromey :) Not really to my taste (I've painted a fair few bits of my bike black), but each to his own.
I didn't know that you could chrome alloy (like the foot peg hangers) what did you do to them?
Given that you don't seem averse to a bit of modification, you could get the tank resprayed to cover up the bad bits - the stickers can be obtained and it might help to complete the look.

Re: CB500 - In Chrome
Previous to this bike I've never been much of a chrome man myself, in fact this is the first of the 7 bikes I've owned to not be a crosser,
My long term plan for this bike is to make the best bike out of it I can and to (try) to sell it on for a profit, and buy a big scrambler like a KLR600.
I was actually just thinking before I came on here that I should chrome the forks, so if it's a nice rain free day tommorow I will. The tool pouch came off of my KLR250. I'll definitely repaint the tank, as the laquer is peeling badly and the paint is faded, if I can get away without repainting the panels I will, but if the difference between paints is too much I'll repaint the whole thing.
About chroming alloy, it's not actually chrome plated, just cleaned, sanded down, and chrome painted with chrome spray paint like the ebay link at the bottom. The paint does fade over time, but as long as it's kept clean it takes a while, and it's not too hard to reapply when it does lose it's shine

The chain guard isn't actually real chrome, it's chrome painted, like this paint, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380346662318&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT really does look the partlmbo2 wrote:LOOKS GREAT, doing a bit of chroming myself to my bike , where did you get the chain guard , also looking rad cover. So far ive put on chrome exhaust front to back ,chrome chrome crashbars if you read help in general forum could do with information thanks , ps any links for the chrome bits would be great.
My bike's desperately needing a chrome exhaust, the downpipes are discoloured horribly. Where did you get yours from? And have you got any pictures of it fitted on your bike?
Re your help thread, I'm not sure about the crash bars, mine were on the bike when I bought it, and I haven't been able to remove them seeing as the nuts behind the bolts in front of the air filter just spin as I turn the bolt, and I haven't found a tool that can fit back there

Paint - should have guessed
Good luck polishing things As others have said, painting the fork lowers (whatever colour you like) generaly makes things look much better.
