Problems with the bike
The timing chain tensioner has a rattle at 2500-3000 rpm when the engine is cold. After you've ridden for around 5 miles, this disappeares completely.
As the bike has been stood for the last six months, I've given the chain a good clean and oil and there is one slighly stiff link. You can't feel it without slackening off the chain completely though.
The back of the exhaust can has developed a crack.
The bike is 16 years old so has the amount of rust you'd expect, and tiny bits of trim that have become slightly tatty but just need re-glueing.
The bottom right of the powerbronze fairing has a 4 inch crack that has been repaired by the previous owner - see photo!
In the winter, the left hand heated grip sometimes stops working. I expect they're fitted with rubbish Scotch-lock type connectors.
Pictures to follow later tonight.

Re: CB500 - 1994L, 21k miles.
Hi Gary,
Would you consider selling the luggage separately? I'm looking for a set at the minute (top box at least), and getting here kills compatibility problems before they happen.
Also, where is the bike?

Re: CB500 - 1994L, 21k miles.
Hi Chaps,
I'm not really sure what they're worth. I expect it's somewhere between £700 and £1000 what with the bits and pieces on it. I'm not sure how much a new timing chain tensioner costs to fit though, not that it's ever caused me a problem.
I've decided to put the bike on eBay so you're welcome to look there.
I'm just east of Reading, Berks.
Cheers

Here it is.
Gary I would be more than happy to buy the panniers/topbox separately from you, I'll be in the area on 10th.

Oooooo, nice mate!
I have sent the link to my brother in Liverpool.
He is going through direct access lessons at the moment. He is talking about his first big bike (he currently has my old CG125 that I gave him) and has changed his mind about seven million times about what he wants. So I will decide for him.
What are brothers for!
Update: He just rang me. "It's got pink bits on it!". I despair of him, I really do.
