    Hi Empty Hi

Post by Styx Tue 20 Sep 2011, 7:30 pm

Just thought I'd say hello as I've just registered.
Just got myself a 1997 CB500 as a return to biking after a 20 odd year gap - wives have a lot to answer for! I have to admit its the second bike I got hold of as the first an XL600LMF needed a lot of bits and they are proving to be as available as rocking horse droppings! After several months of scrounging around the planet for parts I finally drew a blank when I needed a new front wheel rim and bit the bullet and bought the 500 which I have to say I really love - apart frpm the squeak from the rear brake pads but I'll sort that sometime soon.
really useful site - but I do have a problem with the contrast on the buttons - its probably my age!

    Welcome styx ....
Glad you bought a cb500 .. you wont be disappointed, cheap running costs with max pleasure. squeaky rear brakes can be cured by smearing a little gold grease on the contact points on the pads , basically everywhere except pad surfaces ...lol...

Hallo all I am a newbie too.

Having bought a CB500S which turns out to be a CB500Y.

But still well chuffed with It, I have absolutley no moans about it at all.

Did a 100 mile trip on Saturday last and did not get off the bike once and when I did, I was not the slightest bit stiff (anywhere) so comfortable.

Good on fuel too, light and easy to handle, fantastic brakes and feels good on the road.

    Luv It.

    Great site.

Know what you mean about the comfort factor on the CB. I'm just coming to the end of a 5 week work assignment where I've had to commute 72 miles per day, and apart from the terrible weather, terrible roads with (literally) crap left by farmers all over them and being tired after the shift, not had any gripes at all with the bike. Not even felt the least bit stiff either, although getting on a bit in years.

So that's 2520 miles of a commute..... holy jeez! Rolling Eyes
