Stolen from Chingford, London E4 Empty Stolen from Chingford, London E4

Post by SteveE4 Mon 26 Sep 2011, 12:59 pm

I don’t suppose there’s much hope, but the bike went missing from outside the house last night (Sunday 25 September).CB 500 V341LGO Red, all standard with givi mono lock rack and box. Scot Oiler and heated grips. The silver covers over the swing arm bolts are missing which makes it a bit different to the others.
It seems very strange looking at the empty space where it usually is.
I’ve owned it for about six years and seeing as it’s fairly old (11 years) and has over 50,000 miles on it, I thought it wasn’t the sort of bike that would get stolen.

Shame to hear that. Just shows the bastards will steal anything :(

Have you looked on ebay? Is there any CCTV in your street?

Stolen from Chingford, London E4 Empty Stolen bike recovered

Post by SteveE4 Tue 04 Oct 2011, 10:56 am

Found the bike last night. Very Happy About ½ mile from the house. Was driving down some small back streets and there it was. All the locks have been broken (including the Givi mono box) but the bike itself seems sound. The trip meter reads 435 miles so I think someone must have been using it and putting petrol in it. It makes you wonder how effective the police are at recovering stolen bikes.
So ground anchor and expensive chain. Thanks everyone.
PS Can't get the seat up because the lock is damaged. Any tips for getting it open so I can replace the lock.

That's brilliant news Steve! Very Happy

Re the seatlock, can you drill it through and get a screwdriver on it? That's the only way I can think of without bending the seat. Saying that you may be able to get the side panels off if you bend the sides of the seat up which will give you a bit more access.

Glad you've recovered it! I live down the road from you and I know some of my neighbours get a tad iritated that I lock my bike to the concrete lampost outside my house ( the nice neighbours always leave me a space to back in, but there's a couple that don't:roll: ) as I'm convinced that if it wasn't locked to something solid it would have gone by now!

I'm going to keep an eye on my one then! I'm just down the road in E17 (grew up in E4) and leave it on the street locked to itself... going to get myself a chain and get it around a lampost.
