    hi I have a cbf 500 2005 the gauge only goes past c unless I still in traffic then it rises, I had a 1994 cb500 and that used to read around under mid point, the coolant is good and the levels are good is the reading correct

    Except  hard driving or hot summer, my 2000 cb500 Y is basically cold.
    which having a thermostat in the system makes the engine work at its temperature

    In colder months cover almost 1/3 radiator with a thin black plastic sheet (from an idem folder), inserting it behind the protective plastic grill

    THANKS AGAIN, i have taken the thermostats from spares I have, one from a 1994 cb500 and one from Cbf500 2005 and have found the the cb500 opens fully at a sub boiling temp whilst the cbf opens fully at full boil, MUST BE 5 TO 10 DEGREES DIFFERENCE regards T
