    Bonjour all,

    Thought I'd share this tale.

My cb developed a fault where the battery would just go flat, the lights on the bike would start to dim and after a while the bike would just stop running (the only time it's let me down in 10 years). I Read loads of stuff about dodgy rectifiers boiling batteries and popping bulbs but not the symptoms I was having.

I got a meter and found it was leaking 150ma without even the keys being in. By removing the fuses I tracked it down to either the reciter or the alternator. I'm not great with measuring electricity so I did my best and decided to replace the rectifier. And it worked! Now leaking almost nothing (very slight twitch of the meter needle).

Took it for a test ride. Came back with a huge grin.

Just thought I'd lob this is at you all in case anyone else has had similar symptoms

    Cheers

    Ian

Ps got the rectifier off amazon for £40 delivered. Seems ok so far.

Was that second hand or new? If it was new, can you post a link?

It wa new from an Amazon reseller. Copied the link as it appears in my browser. If that doesn't work it was from a bloke called PA Motorcycles. I just searched for cb500 rectifier. Try this
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Japanese-Regulator-Rectifier-SH693-12-Honda/dp/B007GK3N2O/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1332251197&sr=8-2
