Rear brake pads
Forgive me if this has been covered a zillion times before.. I've noticed that the braking from my rear disks has seriously deteroriated. So, I'm going to replace the fluid and bleed the system. Prior to that I've got to check the pads. I know that I've got to remove the R clip and knock out the pin (towards the wheel). Do the pads then drop out on their own or are there spring plates/other bits that also come out increasing the buggeration factor? I'm nervous that what comes out might be a struggle to get back in!!

They *should* drop out. The springs should be retained in the caliper. If they don't want to drop out you can probably get a pair of pliers on the bottom of the pads and give them a pull.
Might be worth giving the caliper a 'push' to try and push the pistons back into the caliper a little, relieving any pressure on the pads - should make them drop out more easily.

Thanks ET. That's what I hoped for. I'll try to give it a go at the weekend.

The slider pins on the caliper carrier may be seized; classic sign of this will be one pad is much more worn than the other.
It's worth checking this if you never have but it is a wheel out job.

Thanks. I'll wait to see what the pads look like. If it's as you say, is the "fix" to replace the slider pins?

No you can clean them up. You may need to replace the rubber boots though. If the pins are seized they can be a swine to separate; one of them unscrews so if you can get a spanner on it you can release it from the carrier, this will allow you to use some persuasion with a soft mallet!
Clean up the pins with a wire brush & some sandpaper & give them a good smear of rubber grease on reassembly.

Well.. retaining pin came out quite easily, pads dropped out & on inspection were fine with even wear each side. Replaced fluid and bled system - job done. Thanks for all the advice. Now for the front brakes..

Nice one. I have to say that the Brembo brakes on my CB5 are the least trouble/most easily fixed or serviced of any bike I've had for years (short of my low-tech wonder the MZ ETZ250).
