Nissin to Brembo caliper swap
Is it a straight swap? I have a '96 with a Nissin caliper that's seen better days and Brembo's seem easier to come by.

It should be but I'd imagine you'll have to swap the master cylinder as well.

Re: Nissin to Brembo caliper swap
I think the brembo master cylinder could be smaller in its boresize, fitting a brembo caliper to a nissin master cylinder might require a little more pressure to squeeze and have less travel. This could be beneficial and is one of the only mods/upgrades the racers can use to upgrade their brakes. There was a thread on this over on the race forums but they are all pretty quiet over there when it comes to tips and tricks
There are quite a few Hondas that use the same brake caliper as the CB. CBR400s(nc23 and 29), early Hornets and VFR750s off the top of my head. Lots on Ebay. My caliper pistons are looking a bit marked from previous owners and was looking at the costs of replacements vs new pistons.
Ive been doing a little bit of research into master cylinder boresize as I currently have a GSXR600 (5/8"/15.7mm)lever set up. Its pretty wooden and needs a serious pull to brake hard, so I'm swapping to a CBR600 FM (1/2"/12.7mm) master to try and get some feel back and not have to squeeze the bar so hard.
Does anyone happen to know the master cylinder boresizes for both the Nissin and Brembos?

Yeah I did some research yesterday and discovered that MK1 600 Bandits also use the same caliper. I've recently replaced the seals in my caliper and noticed that some of the plating on the inside, behind the pistons, is coming away. The brake works perfectly (I polished the pistons too), but there's definitely expense on the horizon.

Re: Nissin to Brembo caliper swap
Checked the Haynes, should have looked sooner as I have been pondering the sizes for a while. Nissin uses 11mm bore and Brembo uses 13mm, the Brembo system has a larger surface area on the pistons so they upped the bore size to match. Using a Nissin m/c on Brembo calipers would infact give more lever travel but less pressure to squeeze. The racers probably opting for a Brembo m/c and Nissin caliper.
