Nissin Caliper
The casting on my nissin caliper has developed a crack at the disc retaining pin so I'm looking about for a replacement.
Does anyone know if the RH one on the cb400 & cb600 would fit? From what I can find they use the same pistons. It'd definately make the search easier if they do.
Cheers

Re: Nissin Caliper
Hello,
Honda used the same nissin calipers on alot of different models of that era, the only difference was the hangers (thats the part the caliper floats on). So in answer to your question yes, they should fit but you will have to use your existing hanger. If i was in your position though i would upgrade to the brembo caliper... should still fit on your hanger also.

Thanks kwakboy, I thought they were the same but it's always good to have expert knowledge. I wasn't even thinking about changing the hanger.
I'd considered swapping to a brembo but that'd mean a new master cylinder & line too (plus I already have pads for the nissin) which adds to the expense a bit.

Glad i could help but for future reference you wont need to change mastercylinder to run a brembo caliper.

Re: Nissin Caliper
Is that really true? I too have a Nissin caliper on mine and the pistons have some pitting so I want to replace the whole thing sooner or later. Brembo calipers seem to be more common on ebay than Nissins. So would anything need to be changed or will the Brembo just swap right over?

Re: Nissin Caliper
yes .. very true.. infact add a goodrich brake line and you will be sorted... the brembo caliper is alot better for braking and wear n tear.. it has ceramic pistons that dont corrode. The only downfall is the pads ... they dont have enough meat on them compared to the older style pads .. so they dont last as long.

Re: Nissin Caliper
You learn something every day. I'd assumed the master cylinder & calliper were a matched pair.
It's too late for me now as my new nissin arrived in the post this morning. Doubt I could've found a brembo in as good nick for £25 anyway.

Hmmm I notice the part numbers for the caliper mounting bolts are the same for all models...

Lol.. you can use alot of different mastercylinders..... I, personally have a GSXR750 radial mastercylinder on my CB.... bloody thing nearly has me over the handlebars on trackdays...!!!

Re: Nissin Caliper
Turns out the CB400 shared the same bracket so fitting was a bit more strait forward than I thought it was gonna be.
