so since ive changed the disc and pads and lubed the slider pins and bled the front brake, stopping power is awesome, though i have noticed that only half of the disk is being used on both sides?

where there are 3 holes in the disc, the outer one and beyond look as new as when i fitted it, while the inside two look to have been used.

    suggestions???

just the pads and disc mating in together

give it a few miles and they should bed in , as long as they are fitted correctly and stopping you they will be ok

as above, they need bedding in, but keep an eye on them.

hey guys, don't want to make another thread about my brakes, as that would then be about half the forum posts about my brakes but my back brake has started squeaking.

It's a drum brake, what does squeaking mean? Time to replace the shoes?

If so, how difficult a job is that?  Wheel off etc ?

Yep, wheel off.  I have never done the drum shoes on a CB5 (mine has a disc), but if it is like other bikes (and it probably is) you can check the wear by removing the rear wheel and then the brake back-plate should lift out of the wheel with the shoes attached (you will then be able to see the friction material).

While you are there it is worth examining the lining of the drum too... I suspect that Haynes has something to say on both these issues.
