'Host Image' is broken?

Solved 'Host Image' is broken?

Post by stormbringer Wed 06 Nov 2013, 6:39 am

Adding a post to topic 'Fuel consumption' containing a wee picture failed. On two different machines I get the same result:
Clicking 'Host an image' above/left to the editor window gets me nothing but an empty white rectangle.

Configs tried:
A: Debian7/64 + IceWeasel (Firefox rebranded)
B: Win7/64 + IE10

Everything else works as usual. Does anyone else have this anomaly?

It's doing the same for me although I never use that button to be honest.
As a workaround for now copy the IMG link from your photo host or manually type the link as such:
[ IMG]https://www.google.com/test.jpg[/IMG]
Remove the space in the first IMG tag, I had to put that in so the site would not process the code!

Thing is - my photo host is Google+, and sharing to someone outside their universe seems hard. Let me try anyway:
<crappy link-thingy removed>

Let me know if you see a picture when clicking the link. I suspect not...

It comes up as a broken link on google's page, it seems it's a bit of a fiddle to link to photos with Google+ but it is possible.

Have a read here, I think it has what you need.

Hmm... Actually, link tells a story about how it doesn't work - Google has a bad habit of changing things on the fly, taking away and putting in stuff without telling anyone. Tried figuring out how to put specific photos in a public album and link to that, but failed. Got no time atm - at work. Remember once it was possible to email a link - and the link would work on a forum like this. Can't find the functionality anymore.

At imghost.us, I've tried uploading the image. How does this work:
Fuel economy

That works, and if you enclose it in IMG tags it will show directly Smile
If you quote my reply you'll see the code in square brackets.
