Fork seals and bad vibes
Hi all,
Took the cb out fo its first shake down run yesterday, 75 miles.......... the good news, NOTHING fell off and even tho saggy i must say i enjoyed it, its a propper giggle i never realised quite how much conner speed you can carry on these things!
Bad news....... Fork seals have blown, combination of being sat for a long time and me riding like an arse i would have thought! Managed to pick up some pattern (i know not ideal!) seals and oil on my way back yesterday. my question is, is there a way with these i can just replace the seals and ol without stripping the forks down completely? i plan on getting some Hagon springs when i order some rear shocks in a couple of weeks (when funds allow!) so could do without having to strip them down completely twice and could do with the bike being road worthy asap.
The seconed thing i noticed was that at 6 1/2 thou i get a really high frequency (if thats the right words?!) vibration in the right foot peg! fine through the rest of he rev range just there and dosnt seem to loose any power just get a numb right foot!
Any suggestions?

Re: Fork seals and bad vibes
you will have to strip the forks to do the seals. you can change the springs later without taking the forks apart, just take the top caps off and pull the springs out.

Ok, thanks for the reply mate.
I meant to say that the plan was to strip clean fit honda seals etc with the springs, I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed that these seals I have are up to the job

Have you checked the engine and exhaust mounting bolts? Things sound like they are rattling...
Also, to eek out a week or two more from your fork seals you can prise up the dust seals and stuff some rolled up kitchen paper in there and jam the dust seal back on... a bodge - probably won't last long, but might be worth it.

I haven't mate, been busy with forks! Good shout though as exhaust bolts to rearsets...... you could be onto something.
The strange things is that i couldn't hear any rattling as such just a very high "frequency"?? vibration, will twiddle some bolts and see what i find :-)
Cheers mate

The other thing that is worth trying is revving the bike while at a standstill (if you can bear to do it!) and poking various areas to see if either, you can feel the vibration or you can make it stop.
