cleaning tyre weld off wheel rim
Got a flat recently and had to limp home on rear tyre half filled with rubbishy Shell brand hole weld. Did fuck all tbh. Anyway, some found its way on to the wheel rim and now it's set like enamel. Nowt'll shift it. Smelled really strongly of acetone during in use - so am thinking nail varnish remover. But might that fetch some paint off at the same time. Probably not - but thought I'd ask before I give it a go.

That's annoying Trevor. I would be tempted to try 'sticky stuff remover' first (I'm not taking the p!ss - it really is called that).
If that doesn't work, try some nail polish remover, carefully as I expect you could lift the paint.

Cheers - I'll see if I can get some of that stuff.

Alloy wheel cleaner may work though it will strip paint if left on long enough.
Alternatively if it's latex based like holts true weld hot water may work to soften it enough for removal.

Well, that's the least noxious approach - so a good place to start. Also, I'm cautiously optimistic too - I do reckon it will soften with a certain amount of heat. So nice one.
