Front left fork leg
Hi all,
I'm after a front left fork leg for my cb as I've just made rather a mess of the old one trying to change the fork seals .
All help appreciated.

How 'broken' is the old fork leg/stanchion?

Re: Front left fork leg
Pretty dead unfortunately.
We were trying to drift the top bush out using the bottom one - gripped the slider in a vice and snatching the stanchion upwards.
Unfortunately we couldn't move the bush at all, so we tried heating the slider, still with no joy, so we tried a bit of gentle persuasion with a hammer.
We never got the bush to move at all, but we have chewed up the fork slider pretty badly and 'mushroomed' the aperture around the top bush and seal. We've also bruised the stanchion.
Our guess is that, due to wear, the bottom bush is simply riding up inside the top bush instead of pushing it out.
I've just paid £60 for a pair of fork legs from a scrapper who says he will have them with me for the end of the week, so fingers crossed I'll be back on the road next week.

Re: Front left fork leg
Sounds like you had a nightmare there!
60 quid for some fork legs is OK - good luck!

Re: Front left fork leg
The fork legs arrived, but there was a lot of play in the bushes and vertical scouring on the stanchions, so I had to buy another fork leg locally.
Now fitted and no leaks!
