Finally got to ride Snarly ................
Well I got to ride Snarly ... Well Its very fast only did 65 mph but it gets there fast ... but a few points the bulb in the speedo has gone so its not lit very well I can only see a little of the the rev counter ......... and the engine sounds funny when I accelerate from 30 mph + Something banging but I am not a mechanic .... and the seat very slippy . But on the whole I love it ........ Just need to sort out some problems but it could be me not used to a fast bike ..........

Nice one Ginger!
Cluster bulbs are easy to sort out, unscrew the speedo cable and unscrew the rear cowl and you've got access.
Re the knocking noise; is the chain adjusted and lubed? Check the condition of the sprockets for any hooking.
Do you get the knocking noise if you rev the engine when not in gear?
To be honest I'd give it a complete service now you've got it.

Well its hard to explain the noise it seems like its under the tank ... My partner say it could be the way I am ride not in the right gear ... But the guy I bought it off said they did a full service etc but I am getting some one to test ride it for me to see if the noise is a problem ....

Good idea to get a mate to ride it... it might not be anything wrong!
The CB5 should rev smoothly from about 3k rpm up to the red-line.
As previously mentioned, an oil and filter change could do a world of good, plus definatly check that chain. My bike definatly sounds (and revs) smoother after the oil has been changed.

Mine 'bangs' below 2.5K rpm. Valve clearances aside I keep on top of the maintenance and it still does it.
It came with a non standard exhaust and I suspect the fuelling isn't spot on at that rpm range causing it to surge and the chain to resonate. A loose chain will make it worse so that's definitely one to check.
