close to standard handlebars?
Hello everybody,
I need to replace the handlebars on my '94 CB500 but unlike most people (apparently) I like the standard riding position. The only reason for wanting to replace them is that someone drove into the bike (whilst I was walking toward it) and knocked it off it's stand. This broke a few bits and pieces including bending the bars so I now find them uncomfortable.
I'm happy with the standard height and width of the bars and just want to replicate that. I might have a go at straightening my bars but I know I'd never get them exactly right and they'd be weaker after all the bending.
Happy to pay for Renthals but looking for advice on which set to go for. It seems most people have gone for lower & wider but I'm just being awkward. I'd happily stick with standard if I could find some at the right price.
Thanks for reading and any advice would be appreciated!

i have a go at straightening the bars if there only slightly bent ,i used a scaffold bar to straighted mbx 80 bars it didnt weaken them ( back in the day first bike) try davidsilverspares uk, send them an email, very good for (new) old honda bits , get a price off them anyway. compared to price of renthals

I bought these off ebay. Brand new. They make handlebars. £29.95 including postage. Mine were powder coated black, so had to rub down the paint on the throttle side so the twist grip would twist smoothly.

David Silver
I did have a look at David Silver Spares's website but it didn't list handlebars for CB500. I haven't rung them but I've generally found their website to be pretty accurate. But it was definitely worth checking.

Ordered
I've ordered a pair. Got to be worth a look, especially if other people have used them (getting fed up with dodgy Chinese counterfeits from Ebay).
Wonder why they didn't show up when I search Ebay for bars? Oh well, thanks for the tip.

Were they the same as the originals? (width, rise bend etc?)

I don't know as the ones I took off weren't originals, but the website stated they were a copy of the originals. They even had the lug holes drilled into them in the right place.

Photos
Well, I bought some of these handlebars and fitted them a while ago. I did take some photos before fitting but am only just gotten around to posting them.
Comparing the bent set I took off my bike (believed to be original) and the replacements from ebay seller straycatcustomsltd.
Please ignore the lock, it's only there to hold the sets of handlebars in position.
As far as I'm concerned they're a good match. Holes already drilled but not cleaned up on the inside, easily done with a round file.As per Llewelyn1965 I had to clean off a bit of the coating to get the twistgrip to turn freely.
Bars seem to have slightly thinner wall section than original but I've not actually measured it. The bar end weights went in easily and one still feels a bit loose but that might be wear/damage from being removed and refitted.
There's no punch mark for alignment but that's not a problem as far as I'm concerned.
