Which switch? Bike won't start when in gear.
I was out for a run today to look at the Groms on show in Belfast Honda, and hit a problem. The bike stopped at a traffic light and I found that there was no go when I pressed the starter button. The bike was in gear and I had the clutch lever pulled in but nothing. The ignition light was on OK but the bike was dead until I put it into neutral and then it started OK. The neutral light worked OK, and when I got home I checked that the side stand cut-out was working OK as well.
Any suggestions as to what this problem might be caused by ?

Was your lights on when it cut out, my fireblade cut out with lights on it was starting of regulator rectifier going bad. I had corrosion in starter switch and ignition too

sounds like the bike didn't know the clutch was engaged..... can't recall what electronic gubbins sense that.

Spot on. I had a look and found one of the blade connectors on the clutch switch was loose. I pushed it on firmly and bike started right up when lever was pulled in.

Ive found the spade connectors on the clutch switch are a touch on the large side for the connectors. Helps to squeeze them up a bit with a pair of pliers for a tighter fit.
