What power version of cb do you have?
So many of you will think of the 33 & 46 restrictions and the unrestricted are the only versions of our bikes but according the wiki. There was different versons and this is identifiable by the VIN.
My VIN is xxxPC32A0Vxxxxxxx so mine is the 58 horse power version, what's yours?

- PC26-2 and PC32A for 58 hp / 43 kW (code PC26-2 / PC32 G)
- PC26-3 and PC32B for 50 HP / 37 kW (code PC26-3 / PC32 2G)
- PC26-4 and PC32C for 34 HP / 25 kW (code PC26-4 / PC32 3G)

Most 'normal' ones are the 58 BHP version - this is unrestricted.
The 34 and 50 BHP versions are/were officially restricted versions produced by Honda to comply with various different laws in various countries - both had different carb/airbox rubbers with differing restrictions and also different main jet sizes.
If you can't be bothered to look up your VIN number then look at the side of the carb rubbers - if it is one of the officially restricted ones will have either '25 kW' or '37 kW' moulded into the rubber (assuming it still has the original restriction - unlikely IMO).
An aside - I suspect that there aren't many full-power CB500 left that have an output of 58 BHP...

I think you'd be surprised...eternally_troubled wrote:An aside - I suspect that there aren't many full-power CB500 left that have an output of 58 BHP...
I had mine dynoed right after I bought it - to know what condition it was in and get the most out of it by having it jetted while we were at it.
49 bhp pre-jetting, 50 bhp on the rear tyre post-jetting/K&N-filter-replacement.
AFAIK this is exactly what is allowed for TS500-bikes - meaning 'standardtrim'.
So, mine is in standardtrim. Coincides with it being absolutely standard and unmodified engine-wise. Bike is 16 years old. I've owned it for the last three years.
In other words; none of the ponies seem to have escaped yet.
Also, we could ask @badseeds. He could tell us how Donkey The Highmiler compares to other bikes.
Ah - it turns out mine is a PC32A.
