2000 cb500s not charging

Hi there my 2000 cb500 is not charging I fitted a new battery but it went flat over a few days of non use of it is the alternator is it to replace ?? I have a had look for a replacement is it the bolts around the cover to take off and replace with the new part

Check your regulator rectifier first( there troublesome on all 90s hondas)

Have look on you tube "honda regulator rectifier" u will need a multimeter also to test it
Have look on forum also about regulator rectifier in previous posts

I used a diode tester on a multimeter and checked all the values were similar.

Get multimeter and do a charging test - essentially you measure the battery voltage, with the headlight on, while revving the bike to 5000 rpm - if the voltage is somewhere around 14.5 volts (say, between 4 and 15) the regulator rectifier is fine.

Thank you guys for this thread. I tested the rectifier following the Haynes instructions and the very last pins of the last test failed, that is the continuity from pin "E". Yet another thing to go all at the same time on this bike!
