Hello CB brothers, 1st...what happened to original adress of forum? Doesn't work anymore... And second... Tell me what could be or if this is normal to happen: When shifting from 1st to 2nd gear is it normal to feel like a little bump in the shifting lever? Now the the odd thing is I'm talking about, It might be in my head but dunno how to check it, sometimes I fell like the race of the shifting lever is bigger than normal (the gears are shifting without problems)... I repeat, this might be just in my mind, but I saw this only when the engine is warm enough or so... Someone told me that I might have an bent shifting fork or wear dogs... I think If I would have those problems my bike would sound odd or not to shift gears proper. Thn

Hello mate!
I've checked the domain registration for cb500club.co.uk and it is all valid, there must be a DNS problem. I'm pretty sure Dan (the owner) is aware of this and dealing with it.

It is perfectly normal for the gear change from 1st to 2nd to be notchy, at least mine has done it from new anyway!

Going from 1st into 2nd is normally notchy. If 2nd-6th is notchy then could need a clutch cable adjustment. Doubt it's anything to do with the clutch or gearbox as these bikes are very hard-wearing but they need some TLC...

Cheers

I always put the notch between first & second to be down to going through neutral. As far as I remember, its happened with all my bikes.

Yep, ditto
Ist to 2nd is in effect a `double change` going through neutral, more noticable on some bikes than others, you have to be more `assertive` on older bikes. look on the brightside, on a BMW of comparable age ( of which I`ve owned two) you need big boots and no mechanical sympathy what so ever to get then into 2nd!...
