Trackday anyone?
I`am off to `do` Snetterton in June, the new circuit looks fun. I`am seriously thinking of slapping some new tyres on the CB and leaving the Triumph at home, have some fun with the power rangers, I may even put the top box back on just for the occasion.
Has anybody taken their CB around Snetterton 300, or similar, I`am not sure the standard brakes could put up with the punishment lap after lap?
Anyway, Its around £90 for the day which for me is a bit of a treat but not too dear for what it is, If anybody else fancys a bash ( not literally I hope) let me know, perhaps we could meet on the day etc.
cheers H

Re: Trackday anyone?
I've no idea about the new circuit at Snetterton but I know that the guys that race in the CB500 cup (or whatever it's called now) use the standard brakes (prob with sintered pads though), so I guess they should be up to the abuse.
Anyone else got any thoughts?

well if anyone has any doubts, (and you tend to hear only the negative side from people who have not done it) it really is the best way to get to know exactly what your bike is capable of...and you for that matter.
Riding on a track ( as long as its with good organisers and you choose your group wisely) is the safest way to have some fun on a bike, no numpties in cars, no road furniture to hit, a good predictable surface and everyone is going the same way. ( oh, and no points on the licence!)
If you have never thought about it before then I suggest you look into it, its not as intimidating as people make out, most people are there for the same reason, to have fun and go home in one piece. Just don`t volunteer for the fast group a week before a superbike meet.!
I have several friends who have learnt alot about roadcraft from IAM etc, but all say they learnt more about the capabilities of the bike on the track which transfers to some pretty usefull knowledge for riding safely on the road.
Anyway, sermon over.... ....have fun what ever and where ever you ride, long may the good weather continue.
Cheers H

Re: Trackday anyone?
Has there ever been a CB500 Club Track Day? I, for one, would definitely be up for that...
Re: Trackday anyone?
Done and dusted....
having ridden a couple, i can safely say the new Snetterton 300 is the best track I`ve been near, and that includes Donnington which I love.
Congrats to the guys who dreamt that up, a superb mix of technical varying corners and two straights to go mad on.
If anybody is tempted to see what its all about, I can thoroughly reccomend the new circuit.
scariest bit, being `mobbed` down the main straight by a herd of GSXR trackbikes, at 145+ my old girl is just too slow in this day and age... ..best bit, passing half of them around the long sweeping right that is Coram, fabulous corner.. ...as always the rain is a great leveller!
ride safe boys and girls

Re: Trackday anyone?
Sounds as though you had a great time. I went to Cadwel at the end of May to watch the Thundersport 500 as they call it now. It certainly looks fun and gives an idea of what the bikes/riders can do.
I was going to upload a couple of pics but not sure how on this site yet
Is anybody looking to go to Snetterton at the end of June to watch the cb50series?

Re: Trackday anyone?
I have been on a couple of track days on my cb500.
I went to Anglesey and did both the International and the coastal circuits.
It was fun on the 500 but being in the Intermediate group I did struggle on the fast straights but managed to hold my own in the bends, even passing a few under braking.
I used standard brakes but uprated the pads to sintered, fitted some sticky tyres (Bridgestone BT003RS) and went and had some fun.
If you have never done it then get yourself a day booked, well worth the outlay.
