Anniversary Meet?
The CB500 we know and love was launched in 1994 which means 2019 will be it's 25th anniversary.
I think it would be great to have a meet up and put faces to names.
Perhaps an organised track day, a meet up at a national bike event or a charity run.
Anybody interested?
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Anybody arranged this sort of thing before?

Gollygosh i think thats a great idea. Although i have never actually ridden mine (inherited in a really poor condition, immediately stripped and in the process of being "amended") i hope to have it roadworthy sometime next year. I'm getting as much fun out of this process as i am from my other bike and i check the forum every day. If i think of a suitable event/venue I'll post it.

Great idea.
I've arranged a few Southern meetings before, which have always been well attended.

Re: Anniversary Meet?
I've been looking at trackdays and all though they cater for novice to experienced riders one common thing they specify is full or zipped leathers which not everyone may have.
There is however day courses at Cadwell Park run by Lincolnshire Road Safety. Not a speed fest but at least a chance to ride the Cadwell circuit and perhaps a few pointers to be safer on your bike. A wise man once said " the wisest man knows he still has much to learn"
Off topic, back in the day there was a race school at Cadwell that used the cb500 as a primary trainer.
I've also been looking at biker events and the choice is overwhelming. Is there anybody that goes to or can recommend an event north of the Watford Gap to make it more accessible to northern CB5ers?

Anything in mind James? Are you intending to become rooted in NornIrn so you'll still be here next year ?Jameshambleton wrote:I'm sure me, beresford and wornsprockets could do the Irish side of things

Should be work over there next year too, though I'm not planning on moving to NI or ROI even though the house prices are appetising

It's a grand place to live James, but only if you have a job and decent income. It's just so expensive to go anywhere else. You can nip over to the continent so easily from England.Jameshambleton

Re: Anniversary Meet?
Sounds a good plan. It's a bit difficult to find anywhere that is close to everyone; that's just the way it is. I'd pick somewhere that isn't too far from you (or at least, within a distance you are happy to ride).
I'd suggest that you find good place/cafe/event/whatever, pick a date, tell people and see what happens. Worst comes to worst we can organise another meetup....

Re: Anniversary Meet?
The 'Spotted' post by @wrighty gave me an idea.
What about the BMF National Road Rally next year. People could do as much or as little as suits them and their location? Potentially with a bit of co-ordination we could arrange some meet ups at checkpoints or on route between them.

I'd be up for it. Not quite sure about a track day. It sounds great but I get a bit excited and think I can ride sometimes, and then I find myself on my arse.

Re: Anniversary Meet?
While I agree that the National Road Rally sounds like fun ( https://www.nationalroadrally.co.uk ), I'm not sure that trying to combine that with a meetup will be that easy.
It might be easier to try and organise a 'Anniversary Meetup' in a fixed location *and* try and get people to do the NRR too...
