How long do brake discs last?

How many miles do you get out of a Honda brake rotor?
Roughly speaking I mean, I know there's a lot of variables there.

I'm trying to decide how much to spend on new discs and whether to look for used ones. Also slightly wondering if what's up on the clock matches the wear.

With properly aligned and working pads, I would have thought that it would be 40k+ before it started together anywhere near minimum thickness...

If the pads were so worn that the backing plate touches the disc, it will wear very very quickly.

Used ones *can* be fine - you just don't want to pay too much unless they are warped and/or the seller has been economical with the truth...

I don't know how long they last - my front disc hasn't worn out in the 10 to 20k that I have done on my bike. It is worth measuring the thickness at a few points around the disc - a micrometer is good for this in my experience.

The rear 'needed' replacing due to warping (according to the MOT man who could 'feel' pulsing through the pedal on the brake test).

94k mikes on mine and still original disc on front. Don't know about rear as drum on mine

Hi...just replaced both front and rear brake rotors on my recently acquired CB500S.Both discs were at the minimum 4mm thickness,new pads as well.The brakes were good but both discs had quite bad grooves. On another point,just swopped gearbox sprocket to16T,from standard 15T.Bike now bit more relaxed when cruising.Bike has done,62,000 miles.

i have changed the front at about 165KKm with an original one which after 1KKm bended, unknown why, and the braking became something like bad ABS, the lever was "pumping" on every braking.
i rejected it and replaced it with an EBC SKBA61335 MD1008 (it's 5mm) and EBC pads sinter double H
the result is really very good ! the pads are worn out already , the disc is brand new.
