    Hello everyone,

Has any of you tried to transform a CB500 into a cafe racer?
I recently sold my `04 Hornet 600 and i`m looking for a bike with `cafe racer potential`, but I  want something that doesn't require a capital restoration Smile Last year I've done my first motorcycle trip, 450km in one day with a CB500 and now I remembered how fun it was.
So I started doing a little research about this cafe project, but haven't found much, just this picture that can't get out of my head Smile)

The frame loop you put a link to is for the *other* CB500 - the one from the 1970s.

There's no reason you couldn't do something like in the picture - you just need to hack off the rear frame, work out where to put the ECU (which is in the rear of the bike), remodel the seat and then think of a way of mounting a number-plate/mudguard that will make you bike legal to ride on the road.

Is the ECU to big to fit in the cafe racer tail?

I'm not really a fan of the whole cafe racer thing, I think too many good bikes get butchered but each to their own and here's someone's effort if it helps:

There were a couple on ebay recently. You could probably find them if you search completed listings.

Why not have a look at what the racing guys do with their bike over on the CB500racing forum?  Lots of ideas and bits there and obviously the mods you see for racing work well.
Inspiration can be found with Google images of "cb500 race bike"
