Right switch gear...
Hiya,
So I got a mechanic to pick my bike up from my house and in transit he broke the right switch gear. Nothing too dramatic but the starter button popped off so now when I turn start her up I get a nice electric shock and a cut finger from the sharp metal.
Anyway, he knocked money off and I picked a new (old) one up on ebay for next to nothing but it's from a 98 CB (mine being a 97). I assume this is all grand? The icons on the switchgear are different but I assume functionally it works the same?
I've been quoted £40 by a different mechanic to do the replacement which is an hours labour but I feel I'm copping out a bit when it seems like a quick job at home. So instead I had a go myself but being very green with bike maintenance panicked when it came to removing the throttle cable. Is this something I should be cautious of doing or am I just being over the top?
Thanks,
Jon

Re: Right switch gear...
It's a bit of a faf but nothing too terrible; I had to replace mine a couple of years ago.
As you say the most awkward bit is getting the throttle cables out but be slow and methodical and you'll be ok
