Re: Brake bleeding kit
bleeding the brakes is too easy on a cb500 to justify a bleeding kit, and they have a cable clutch, or are you asking for another vehicle?

Cheers for the response.
I have an fjr1300 as well and the girlfriend has a thundercat and cbf600 so was ideally looking for a decent bleeding kit that i could use on all the bikes.
Any suggestions/recommendations?

I've always used one of these kits from Halfords; it's basically a length of clear hose with a non return valve on one end, it does the job.

Same here. The deluxe version has a short piece of rubber tube to go onto the nipple.teabag wrote:maybe i'm a bit of a tight arse dinosaur but i've always used a bit a lenght of clear tube i bought from halford designed for car windscreen washers ,a jam jar and some brake fluid, thats all you need really or am i missing somthing ???

Never tried one of these myself but they look really handy and a lot easier to use. Might have to invest in one myself!

I'm not sure what a tight arse dinosaur looks like, but I am obviously one too - windscreen washer tube and a jam jar for me too.teabag wrote:maybe i'm a bit of a tight arse dinosaur but i've always used a bit a lenght of clear tube i bought from halford designed for car windscreen washers ,a jam jar and some brake fluid, thats all you need really or am i missing somthing ???
I *have* tried one of the tubes with a non return valve - good idea, but the one I had wasn't long enough.
I often find that you need to pump through a lot more brake fluid than anticipated to remove all the bubbles - so it helps to use a clean jam jar (so you can put the fluid back into the bottle), have a fairly large amount of brake fluid on hand and make sure you keep the reservoir topped up.

I bought the non return kit to do the car's brakes; it makes it possible to do solo! I'm not losing any sleep over a fiver. As ET says the tube is a bit short, rather than lengthening it I just stand the second fluid bottle on something.
