Anyone got these?
Using the bike a lot these days, commuting etc & looking to minimise risk of damage in the (hopefully unlikely) event of a spill....Very Happy
Good product? Opinions?

These covers seem to be favoured as the lighter, cheaper and just as effective option.

Both are fine for light scrapes.

Obviously the plastic covers won't help in a worse situation (though they aren't too bad) - admittedly in a worse crash you might not care about the engine and might be more concerned about yourself.

The downside with engine bars that connect to the motorcycle frame are this:  if you have that 'nasty' accident and the bike ends up hitting the deck (via the engine bars) with some force the engine bars transfer all the force to the frame of the bike, which can bend.  If you hadn't have had the bars the engine cover might be wrecked, but the bike frame might be OK...

Fair point. If it's a big spill I won't be too worried about the bike. It's more about damage limitation in the event of a drop or low speed scrape that can happen.
I prefer the look of the bars but have heard stories of bars (on other bike makes) crumpling and damaging the casings etc instead of direct contact with the tarmac doing it.

I can personally vouch for the effectiveness of the engine covers, had a 50mph high side and they stopped all damage to engine casings :]
