Brake pad choice Empty Brake pad choice

Post by jonny10 Fri 06 Dec 2013, 3:26 pm

Noticed a chunk missing off the lining on one of the rear pads so I'm gonna replace the lot.
Seen a few alternatives online which seem a lot more reasonable than OEM pads. Spent a lot of £'s on the bike lately but wouldn't want to skimp on something like brakes...
Anyone used these? Opinions?

Oh, and.... am I right that all CB500 ('cept rear drum obviously) models have Brembo calipers & therefore pads should be the same?
Thanks

Following advice from this forum I've just bought these and fit them last weekend: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390716767968
(EBC HH Sintered)

I'm going to argue they're the best rear brake pads I've had on a CB500.

Brembo pads may be good, but they are pricey. I've just fitted Ferodo sintered front and rear which seem to be excellent. EBC have a good reputation too. Best to avoid unknown ebay brands when something as important is being considered.

The EBC's are brilliant, I always use them.

Bed them in a bit. this improves the bite. Don't just instal them and expect them to be mega instantly.

Ive used Ferodo before EBC. For me, EBC have better braking power.

Yeah, had a quick look online & could only see EBC front ones...just went with Feroda as complete set was there. Not big difference in price and just want it done & besides, if Beresford says they're ok, they'll do me......Very Happy
Thanks!

My second hand bike had pits missing out of the "gold fren" pads fitted...
I replaced with brembo, reassuringly expensive. Or you could just check the pads now and again.

I usually buy genuine pads, but took a chance on a cheap set of EBC HH sintered pads.
I can confirm that they are very, very good.

I've used the cheapo Kyoto brand pads from wemoto without any problems.  They seem fine to me.

I haven't used either the EBC pads or the original Brembo ones, so I can't compare.

Ebay specials on mine at the mo! They don't give as much feel as the EBCs but they still stop me and stop me quickly! Used them as a quick MoT fix will be getting decent ones during the bike refurb
