Throttle cables replacement
Hi All, I bought an elderly cb5 and need to replace the throttle cables. Any hints, tips etc. on airbox removal or other bits. I don't have a manual yet but am ok mechanically. Anything that makes the job easier would be welcome.
Thanks
Thanks

It's quite straightforward really. You'll need to remove the tank, though I guess you know that. You'll need to remove them from the carbs first, or undo the 'bars then add some jiggery-pokery. You might get away with lubing the cables, if they're not frayed.

Thanks for reply but both need replacement. I am replacing clutch and choke cables as well, just to be sure.

I lubed my new ones before fitting them, using the hint out of the Haynes manual, to extend their life. Take the tank off, unscrew the handlebar switchgear thingies and it should all become obvious.

It's pretty straight forward, the only awkward bit is threading the cable nipples into the throttle sleeve and getting it back in the housing!
Make sure you note the cable routing before you take it apart otherwise you'll end up with cruise control

It isn't too bad - with little patience you will be OK.
