new throttle cables help pleasy
hello to all,
ive just changed both cables and oiled them too by the way. ive rooted them in with no snags or crossing. at the minute the carbs are out. looking at finishing this Saturday as ive ran out of time tonight. im guessing the throttle should snap shut whether the carbs are in the bike or not? at the minute its not snapping back but ive not tightened it all up yet on the carb bracket. any ideas if the pull cable thread should be screwed all the way in first before tightening? ( yes i forgot to check on the old one lol) ive read the push cable has not much to do with it and is just a back up. on the housing end before attaching the cables to the carbs i twisted the throttle and both cables went back and forth respectively so im guessing ive done that ok.

You'll find the cable will drag a bit until you've got the carbs fitted as there will be a bend in the cable until they are installed. I replaced mine recently and noticed the same thing! Give me a shout if you need any advice as it's all pretty fresh in my memory

Will do thanks I'll get the carbs back in first then, tighten up the cables and go from there. Can't wait to get back on it feels like forever ha.

Well done that man It's not one of my favourite jobs, especially when the inlet rubbers are cold.

Just been for a little spin I would be happier if the free play was a ltitle less I think there's an adjusting screw at the top end of the cable so might give that a go. With the carbs they are a bit of a pain. I fitted a new fuel pipe while I could too the other tore once and was a bit short. Bit windy today but hope to get out soon!

Yep, at the twist grip end there is a rubber sleeve on one of the throttle cables. Slide this back and there's a locknut and adjuster.
